Area Science Park
Area Science Park is a national research organisation active since 1978, a hub that brings together national and international research centres, innovative companies and start-ups, research and technology infrastructures. It is the only Public Research Organisation supervised by the Italian Ministry of University and Research that manages a science and technology park.
Area Science Park’s scientific activity focuses on omics sciences, materials science, data science and AI. Its laboratories contribute to the development of proprietary research infrastructures at national and European level, as well as macro-regional technology infrastructures in the fields of life sciences, materials science, advanced digital technologies and green hydrogen.
Area Science Park’s headquarter is in Trieste, where it oversees the development and management of the science and technology park: two campuses, located in Padriciano and Basovizza, covering a total area of 65,000 square metres, hosting around 55 public and private organisations and more than 2,800 people.
Thanks to this multidisciplinary ecosystem, Area Science Park offers students, researchers and young professionals an attractive, dynamic and international environment. Through collaborations with universities, research centres and companies, it provides opportunities for training, skills development in highly specialised technological contexts, and networking. The talents involved can take part in innovative projects, scientific events and initiatives dedicated to technology transfer and entrepreneurship.
Area Science Park also promotes international mobility and integration into the research system. Through the EURAXESS Centre Trieste, it supports international students, PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers in mobility, guidance and career development pathways, facilitating connections with academic institutions, laboratories and companies in the local area.
