Conservatory of Music “Jacopo Tomadini”
The Conservatory of Music “Jacopo Tomadini” in Udine is an higher education institution which provides Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees, alongside pre-academic courses and PhDs.
Its origins trace back to 19h century; in 1922 it was named after the friulan musician Jacopo Tomadini and it became a national conservatory among the Italian AFAM System in 1981. It is located in a historic building, Palazzo Ottelio, which was recently restored and it features several venues, classrooms, concert halls. The institution is equipped with remarkable instruments for educational and performing purposes, such as Steinway & Sons, Fazioli and Bösendorfer pianos.
It participates in the Erasmus+ Programme with staff and student mobilities. Moreover, it adhers to the Association Européenne des Conservatories (AEC) and invests in a network of partenerships with various European conservatories. It strenghtens international relationships with music academies and university all over the world.
It cooperates closely with the University of Udine and organizes a large amount of concerts per year in Friuli Venezia Giulia, often working alongside the Teatro Nuovo Giovanni da Udine, and further. It also promotes musical education by arranging masterclasses through the academic year.
It has two publishing series: “I CD del Conservatorio”, albums collecting the best concerts of students and teachers, and “I quaderni del Conservatorio”, books featuring musical studies and research, enhancing musicological essays about the history of music in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
