The InterAcademy Partnership (IAP)
The InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) is a global network of more than 150 national, regional and international academies of science, engineering and medicine working together to advance the role of science in addressing the world’s most pressing challenges. Through its member academies, representing over 30,000 scientists, engineers and health professionals across more than 100 countries, IAP promotes evidence-informed policymaking, scientific excellence, international cooperation and public engagement with science.
IAP operates at the intersection of science, policy and society. Its work supports global dialogue and collaboration on issues such as climate change, public health, sustainable development, food security, research integrity, science education and emerging technologies. By bringing together independent scientific expertise from around the world, IAP helps strengthen the contribution of science to inclusive and sustainable decision-making at national, regional and global levels.
A key part of IAP’s mission is capacity building: empowering academies and young scientists to provide trusted scientific advice and engage effectively with policymakers, institutions and the public. Through reports, policy briefs, international projects, workshops and global partnerships, IAP contributes to strengthening science diplomacy and fostering resilient knowledge systems worldwide.
Based in Trieste at the ICTP/TWAS campus, IAP is deeply connected to the international scientific ecosystem of Friuli Venezia Giulia and to a global network of academic and policy institutions.
